Kumamon & Mejiron are the two mascots of the Kumamoto & Oita prefectures which were hit by an earthquake in April 2016. The aircraft primarily served the routes to Kumamoto & Oita during that time and highlighted the airline’s effort in recovery aid.

These cheer up titles showed JAL’s support after the 2011 Sendai earthquake and tsunami. JA302J was the first aircraft to land at Sendai when the airport re-opened after works.
